About us
Tarka Tennis Centre was built in February 2003 at a cost of 4.5 million.
Built next to the River Taw it sits within the surrounding hills.
Tarka boasts 6 indoor courts & 6 outdoor floodlit. Two of the outdoor courts are clay courts.
Barnstaple Tarka Tennis club was established as an independent club at Tarka in 2006. Since October 2009 the club has become part of the Tarka Tennis Centre and is now managed by them. There is still a committee for social functions. The club plays a prominent role on the local tennis scene with our Men's first team usually winners or runners up in the first division, and with some of our juniors representing the county in various age groups. At the moment we have six men's teams and four ladies teams entered in the North Devon League. We also enter teams in the Knockout Cup (Mens and Ladies doubles), the Houldsworth Cup (mixed), and in the winter the Tarka Indoor League. Our teams consist of both adult and junior members, and with the addition of our club sessions, and available coaching, we feel that we provide ample opportunity for members to play the game at all levels of ability. |
